Texturing high-fidelity characters: Working with Quixel Suite for Unity 5

February 2, 2016 in Technology

Following the release of the assets from our demo “The Blacksmith”, we got many requests for more information on the artistic side of creating high-end characters.

Check out this tutorial which was just published in the recent days by the team at Quixel.
It introduces you to how you can texture your character with Quixel Suite and set it up in Unity 5.

The video uses the main character from “The Blacksmith” demo as a sample, and covers the process step-by-step, with useful tips along the way.

If you want to try it yourself, remember you can download the characters and the environments from “The Blacksmith” from the Unity Asset Store, free of charge, and you are welcome to use them for any purpose, including commercial.

Happy texturing!

The Blacksmith assets, as well as the Cinematic Effects package, are in sore need of updating. They don’t work under 5.3.

Unity should really keep them updated at all times, otherwise they’re completely useless.
