Last call to try out the 2017.1 beta and get a chance to win a Nintendo Switch

, June 1, 2017

As announced on April 27, we are currently in the process of getting 2017.1 ready to ship by running an open beta. The beta program helps us to  find bugs, test out new features and make sure that the final release meets all quality assurance standards, offering  a great experience for everyone. If you join, you’ll be among the first to try out all the new features.

To  make things even more fun, we’re giving away beta tester t-shirts to everyone who submits a bug that is an original bug entry (has not yet been reported at the time of submission), and which has been reproduced and acknowledged by us as a bug.

On top of that, one lucky bug-squasher gets the chance to win a Nintendo Switch

How to join

It’s simple! Just head over to our beta testing section, read our guide and download the installer to get access to the 2017.1 beta.

The beta release is available for free to all Unity users, including Personal Edition users. In the release notes section, you’ll find a complete list of all the new features, improvements and bug fixes included in the release.

  1. +1 on the octane.

  2. Oh, a Nintendo Switch! They can’t be found in any store here as they sell out. Unfortunately I was told my bug is too tough so they put it on the back burner. LOL

What I’m really looking forward to though is when the Octane Renderer makes it to Unity 2017 Beta.

  3. If unity did a bug bounty program I would be fucking rich. But here we get a T-Shirt and a CHANCE for Nintendo Switch. Woohoo.

    1. How about just submitting bugs because it makes for a more stable system and leaves the developers at Unity more time to add more features and fix the bugs rather than looking for them.
