You’re not alone. Many people out there are in exactly the same position.
That’s why we’re excited to share that we’ve created a brand new monetization course on the Unity Learn platform to teach you best practices in growing your mobile game.
This course was designed for game developers who are looking to get started with monetization and user acquisition.
By the end of this course, you’ll learn:
- How to approach monetizing a game so it doesn’t impact player experience
- How to set up a successful user acquisition campaign
- How to create an integrated monetization and user acquisition strategy
- How to track the initial success of your game so it can scale
What’s in this course?
The course is broken down into five sections, starting with the fundamentals, and then it takes you through real examples to show you how to implement a monetization strategy, a user acquisition campaign and ways to refine and consolidate your strategy.
Section 1: Monetization and user acquisition foundations
In this section, we walk you through the foundation of monetization and user acquisition, explaining how it works, the ecosystem, the ethics of monetization and early concepts that you need to know.
Section 2: Monetizing your game
Once you have the fundamentals down, we’ll dive a bit deeper into monetization, like the different types of monetization strategies you can use, how it impacts the player experience, and best practices to follow based on our experience working with thousands of studios. We’ll also look at the different solution providers in the ad ecosystem, what to consider when selecting ad networks, the relationship between monetization and game design, as well as ways to measure your success.
Section 3: Acquiring your users
Now that you have an understanding of how to monetize, you’ll learn how to get players to play your game. You’ll learn about the different channels available (organic and paid), as well as the metrics you need to know and what they mean.
In the Organic section, you’ll learn the different ways to get players to your game by optimizing your App store and growing your app through content marketing strategies. In the Paid section, you will explore different types of paid user acquisition, how to achieve your KPIs, and the metrics you need to know to make sure you’re spending wisely.
These are tried and tested methods that we’ve seen work for thousands of games.
Section 4: Strategizing for success
In this section, you will go even deeper into the different ways to test, implement and iterate your strategy, how to track your success, and how to maximize your earning potential.
This is where you’ll roll your sleeves and put what you’ve learned in the previous sections into action. You’ll explore how to actually set up a monetization strategy from A-Z, and learn how to set up the tracking to monitor your success. But, setting up a monetization strategy is not a set-it-and-forget-it type of thing. You need to be iterating on it based on what the data is telling you, and in this section, we’ll explain exactly how to do that and what to keep an eye out for.
Section 5: Next steps
In this final section, you’ll take the core concepts you’ve learned, and discover ways to implement your monetization and user acquisition knowledge going forward.
The “Growing your mobile game” course also comes with cheat sheets, templates, quizzes, and more so that you can get started implementing your monetization strategy quickly and easily.
