What do you do at Unity?
I joined Unity in August this year as the Head of APAC Recruitment. I look after the recruiting function for the APAC region where we work across China, Japan, Korea to Singapore, and India.
My team is comprised of energetic recruiters who aim to introduce candidates to why this the best time to join Unity!
What does your day-to-day look like?
Every day is different with differing priorities. The start of the week is usually a lot about catching up with my team members and getting scrums organized. With team members sitting in different parts of Asia, it’s important for me to understand what the team’s priorities are. Later in the week, I usually have several calls with leaders from our San Francisco office.
As a growing company, it’s important to work closely with my peers to align our objectives and review our progress. Being relatively new in my role, I also travel across the region to build relationships with business leaders in each country.
Where were you before joining Unity?
Prior to Unity, I was with Ubisoft in Singapore for 6 years where I worked on setting up the recruiting functions in Chengdu and the Philippines. During those 6 years, my team and I recruited talent from all over the world for AC3, Black Flag, Rogue, AC Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Ghost Recon Phantoms and Skull & Bones. Now that I’ve joined Unity Technologies, I’ve gotten to see a few old familiar faces from my time with Ubisoft!
What do you enjoy about Unity company culture?
People! We spend a lot of time working together, so the people make a huge difference where you work. No one at Unity is ever too busy to have a few words with you, which says a lot about the quality of people that work here. Just a few weeks ago, I was in the San Francisco office and needed to speak with someone, and it was as easy as walking over to their desk and just chatting.
What do you enjoy about working at Unity overall?
The list can be really long, but one the best things about Unity is our Workplace Experience team! They have been one of the most amazing groups of colleagues who ensure that we are working in a great environment. From building out amazing offices to organizing workplace events to catering breakfast! OMG, they are amazing!
What is your favorite made with Unity game/film/experience and why?
Sonder! I’m a bit biased, but I had a few friends work on this project and I’m super excited and proud of what they’ve accomplished. It’s cool seeing how Unity is being used in the film world.
What excites you most about the future of Unity / where Unity is going?
I think we have the vision to become one of the top tech companies in the world. To be part of helping to build Unity out at this stage is one of my biggest motivators.
