Learn from the Community
Diving into some of the learning resources we’ve got for you this week, below you can find some insights into shader development, Unity’s Visual Effect Graph, and recreating some combat inspired by Final Fantasy XV.
Making Stuff Look Good
Mix and Jam
Dilmer Valecillos
Minions Art
I made a post about creating some selective image effects with Stencils :D Like pixelated or sketched-style characters #gamedev #madewithunity

Community Project Showcase
Falcon Age
Falcon Age recently launched on PS4 and PSVR. In Falcon Age you and your falcon friend hunt, gather, and fight colonizers in VR. They’ve also realised a fantastic write-up about what went into creating the bird of prey, which you can read here. Or, you can check out some of the insights they shared with us regarding development on Twitter.
Last Epoch
The team behind Last Epoch recently announced a beta trailer and release date for their upcoming ARPG. You can expect loot, getting lost in dungeon diving, character customization and most likely, more loot. Learn more about the game on their website, and make sure to give your peers a follow over on their social media!
DARQ
This is one of the weirdest monsters you will encounter in DARQ. We had a lot of fun implementing the sounds recorded by multi-talented @steveblu (who's a composer who plays a ton of instruments!). All the processing was done by @CujoSound #unity3d #madewithunity #gamedev pic.twitter.com/llXwf2nVRa

Unfold Games shows us just how creepy their project, DARQ, can get with the addition of some eerily beautiful audio.
Cognito Terra
New Math Attack FX. It needs a lot of adjustments especially for timings and more animations. But the priority here is to make it look & feel good without the cinematic cam to make it better when added back.#CognitioTerra #madewithunity #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames pic.twitter.com/iqFmbdtnpF

We’ve been following Lez Tusi develop Cognitio Terra for a while know, and it’s been fantastic to watch it grow and evolve over the past year or so. Above is a quick highlight on the newest piece they have shared with us!
VFX Friday
Last but not least, we noticed that a lot of VFX Artists were mentioning us and #madewithunity in their #vfxfriday posts. Thank you! We’ve picked out a few that showcase some beautiful work, and you can find more in the hashtag. If you’re working on something with our Visual Effect Graph, share it with us and your peers!

Managed to do some updates on these little guys this week, so you can now properly say "goodbye" to Clyde, Pinky, Inky and Blinky… and their eyeballs! #VFXFriday #RealTimeVFX #MadeWithUnity #VFX #Shader #PacMan pic.twitter.com/BwkHaDjQ5s

Finally I have something to show for #VFXFriday! I wanted to try these swirly windy bois for a while! 🌪️
Still trying to push the boundaries of simple dissolve shaders and cloud textures :3#gamedev #madewithunity #VFX pic.twitter.com/4V2pEut3dC

Fun little Toony Explosion i'm working on to try out different styles. Still making tweaks to it but figured I might as well post it for #VFXFriday #madewithunity #gamedev #VFX pic.twitter.com/hJkfCxNc3G

Love the post, thanks for sharing. You’ve given me a few new people to subscribe to.
It would be nice if there were also some tutorials listed along with these effects or some example code. It could be an additional section. Just to have people starting out having an easier way to find the correct information. Especially VFX graph, the Unity samples are great but very complex if you don’t know what you are looking at. Finding some actual useful tutorials or examples is a bit difficult as most people just post a video of the end result.
Cool stuff! I think this kind of post help developers to furhter increase their skills!
Probably a stupid question, but, with the LWRP support for VFX Graph, does that mean that it will work on mobile devices now?
Making Stuff Look Good is A treasure
