Search Unity

Of the over 220 million users who’ve installed Unity Web Player since the plug-in launched in 2005, many accessed it through Kongregate.

Going into the numbers, we found that 53% of new visitors to Kongregate already have the plug-in installed, and an astonishing 93% of the site’s returning visitors have it.

This is remarkable for two reasons: first, the fact that over half of gamers new to Kongregate already have the plugin is pretty impressive in and of itself. Second, it means that 40% of Kongregate’s 15 million unique monthly visitors end up installing the Unity Web Player after visiting the site.

Those numbers are even more striking when you consider that there are currently only 3,293 Unity titles on Kongregate, or about 5% of the site’s total games. But gamers seek them out. For example, the most popular of Unity games on Kongregate, CS Portable, has clocked 18,255,202 plays as of now.

In short, Unity games are in very high demand on Kongregate and users are more than happy to download the Web Player to access them.

You can contact Kongregate at if you’re interested in uploading games to their site. iOS or Android developer?  Kongregate also publishes mobile games for its massive audience of core gamers. More information for mobile developers is available here.

I love Kongregate and Unity, but my main OS is Ubuntu and there is no Web Player for Linux =(
Is there any plans to Linux support?

My Unity game, Accelerator, has been on Kongregate since 2011 :D Very easy to integrate their API too.

@STEPHANE VALVERDE I worked on Kongregate API integration on a previous project. Maybe I could make a Unity3D extension on the Asset Store out of it…

It would be nice to hear from the unity folks if they think the web player will come preinstalled on any systems in the near future.

Hello, I published a demo version of my game on Kongregate : Paper Dungeons, curently in development. This plateform is great to get to receive usefull critics and comments from active gamers, and reveal also unsuspected bugs :)
Is there any tool planed to integrate the Kongregate API directly into Unity. This will be usefull to post Kongregate achievements.

I have a few games on Kong and it’s like everything else. You get a bit of attention the first few days then it gets buried in the pile. Albiet they do a great job of making self publishing easy and fast.

@AURORE I know the unity web games section, I was wondering if they also offer unity based games on mobile.

Even those Kongregate’s numbers show that Flash Player is much, much more popular that Unity Web Player. There is even less non-gaming Internet users with Unity Player Installed. I really regret that Unity abandoned Flash.
Unity, we are still waiting for details about “an exciting new Unity web publishing initiative” (from “Sunsetting Flash” post”). I hope it will be something connected with Emscripten.

Hello There. I discovered your blog the use of msn. That is an extremely smartly written article. I’ll make sure to bookmark it and return to learn more of your helpful info. Thanks for the post. I’ll certainly comeback.

Impressive stats!
Last time I checked, Kongregate only hosts flash games on their mobile platform.
Has it changed? Do they host Unity3D based games now?
