No rest for the Ninjas
With our biggest release to date just out the door, you’d think the developers at Unity would get some time to kick back and relax. Hell no! On Monday, Ninja Camp VII commenced at the Copenhagen office with about 50 of our developers and some of Unity’s key partners. Our crunch-weary devs will get three weeks to reboot their energy and creativity by working on projects of their own with the aim of turning them into potential new features for future Unity releases.
“At Ninja Camp we get to work on projects that at least initially, feel too crazy or ambitious for any company road map,” says Lucas Meijer, VP, Engineering. “But many new features in 4.0 started out as Ninja Camp projects, like hardware cursors, multi-threaded rendering and Linux publishing support. Software development is a creative process, but it’s hard to remember that when we are working towards a major product release. Ninja Camp is our chance to develop in a really creative, but focused way.”
We plan on publishing profiles of some of the key projects from Ninja Camp VII, and the developers behind them, so be sure to check back on our website later this month to learn more.
