In a rapidly changing landscape, the need for students to acquire computational thinking skills is great. At Unity, we’re committed to empowering you to help prepare your students for the jobs of tomorrow. Join our Unite Now sessions to learn more about the resources available to help you coach lifelong learners.

Future-proofing our learners

The biggest difference between the job market of today and the 2030 employment landscape will be the demand for advanced IT and programming skills. Even if students don’t plan on becoming programmers, these skills will be crucial for them to succeed in the workforce. Real-time 3D skills – the rendering of animations in real-time – are at the forefront of these in-demand skills.

According to Hired.com’s “State of Engineering” report, in 2019, demand for game engineers grew by 146% while demand for augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) engineers grew by 1,400%. Both of these roles require real-time 3D skills, and their growth is emblematic of the rising demand for Unity skills and the level of opportunity afforded to those who have them. In this sense, as you empower your students with in-demand job skills, you also expand their economic opportunities.

This is why lifelong learning – the practice of constantly upskilling to keep competencies relevant – is a critical mindset for educators to instill in their students so they can be ready for the rapid shifts in the economy that we’ll continue to experience.

Becoming lifelong learning coaches

There’s an outdated perception that teachers must be experts in all the subjects they teach. In reality, it’s nearly impossible for teachers to keep their curriculum current enough to match our fast-paced, technology-centered world. But it is possible for teachers to serve as “lifelong learning coaches” when teaching technology – helping learners develop grit, tenacity, curiosity, mastery, and a love of learning – while taking advantage of the free resources available to help develop the most in-demand skills.

To help you succeed in this role, the Unity Education team is hosting three virtual sessions designed to introduce you to Unity and highlight the resources and programs we have available to support you in teaching real-time 3D skills. These sessions are part of Unite Now, a digital programming series of talks, demos, Q&As, and stories, all available on your favorite device.

Our first session, “Empowering Students Everywhere – Today and Tomorrow,” takes place on Thursday, April 16 at 11 am PST. In this session, we’ll share how to prepare your students for the jobs of tomorrow along with some of our top resources to help you empower your students with the skills they need to become successful Unity creators.
