Our user account experience is evolving to support a more diverse range of teams, whose members are often spread out geographically and include a mix of full-time contributors and freelancers on time-limited contracts. Here’s what’s changing:

Personal and public organizations

When you open a Unity ID account, you are automatically assigned an organization. This default organization gets the same name as your user name and consists only of yourself. You can make purchases for this organization for your own personal and commercial development.

You can also create an organization on behalf of a company. You can make purchases for your company via its Unity ID organization. You can invite others to join the organization and tailor their access level to Unity based on their role within the organization.

  1. Hi guys,

    Before this whole ID thing started we used to use the same Unity account for both of us (There’s just 2 of us in the team), so we made all our asset purchases using that 1 account. Now that we have Organizations, the obvious thing would be to ‘transfer’ all our asset purchases so that organization owns it, as it shouldn’t be tied to my account (what if I run away with it?).

    What can be done about this? We made all the asset purchases as a company so the company should own it, if I leave, the other guy should have access to all the assets.

  3. The new (to Unity 5.x) project dialog never remembers my credentials, so I constantly have to sign in again and again. I would suggest fixing the basic things that should be easy before going for the grand control of everything feature set.

  4. Your definition of «easier» is my definition of «impossible». I used to be able to get to my licenses. Now I can’t. Where are the licenses? How do I find them? Why have you hidden them? And why is the license server no longer working? Why can’t I activate the license I just released? Oh wait, I can’t find out ANY of that information in this «easier» to use ID.

    No, it’s not easier. It’s IMPOSSIBLE!

    1. Judy, thanks for the feedback. The pages are new so feedback like yours is really appreciated. To answer your question, when signed in, click in the top right corner and a menu will pop up, with License being one of the options. Here’s a gif of it in action.

  5. Well, I still can not remove collaborator from my project («Remove» button does nothing, simply shows a loading popup and reloads the list).
    How to fix it?

    1. Hmm — Skyblade, that sounds like a bug. If you’re an owner or a manager in the organization you should be able to remove any user. I’ll email you and see if we can track it down. Thanks for catching it!

  6. This is OK. Seems we can have two organizations for the same team as we want to keep our game ideals separate.

    Can I buy a asset for another Unity user if i contact the asset store with the correct ID. It makes it more convenient because the asset belongs to the account the asset was gifted too and updates in their Unity editor.

  7. Provide GIT support with Github like pricing and I will switch over. Ohh and while you are at it buy out Trello and incorporate that in this too.
