Unity 5.2 から Windows 10 のユニバーサルアプリ対応が入りました。これにより、一つのUnityアプリケーションでWindows 10 フォン、 タブレットとデスクトップPCで動作させることが可能になり、さらに近い将来Xbox Oneでも動作するようになります。

Windows 10 ユニバーサルアプリケーション プラットフォームは、Windows 10で導入されたもので、以下の特徴を持っています:

  • 一つのアプリケーションでWindows 10で動作する複数の種類のデバイスをサポートすることが出来ます:スマートフォン、タブレット、PCと、今後対応される色々な対応機器
  • すべてのデバイスで共通のアプリストアを利用
  • Windows 10 デバイスファミリー共通のAPIが利用可能

Unity 5.2を使ってWindows 10 ユニバーサルアプリ を作るには

もちろんながら、この新プラットフォームの可能性をゲーム開発者の皆さんに提供するために、Unity 5.2にWindows 10 ユニバーサルアプリ対応を新しく追加しました。

Windows 10 ユニバーサルアプリへの出力は、Windows Storeプラットフォームへの出力を選択して、下の画像の様にSDKをUniversal 10に選択することで出来ます。

これにより、Unity 5.2 はVisual Studio 2015のソリューションファイルを出力するので、このソリューションファイルをビルドする事でWindows 10 のPC、スマートフォン、タブレットで動作するアプリをビルドする事が出来ます。現在はARM、x86、x64の3つのアーキテクチャがサポートされています。また、ビルドするプロジェクトでは .NET Core 5.0 を利用可能です。



UnityのゲームをWindows 10ユニバーサルアプリ(UWP)としてビルドするためには、以下のことが必要になります:

  • Unity 5.2 以降のバージョンを利用してください
  • Windows 10で動作するPCを用意しましょう
  • Visual Studio 2015 RTM (バージョン 14.0.23107.0 以降のもの) を利用して下さい。それ以前のバージョン(Visual Studio RC等)はUnity 5.2ではサポートされていません。
  • さらに、Windows 10 SDK をインストールする必要があります。

Might be a dumb question, so forgive me.
But does .NET core 5 include async method?

does that mean we can use async/await/task in our C# in unity?

it does, but Unity is still on NET 2.0 or some strange flavor of 3.5,… so, unless you create a plugin or a winmd (is that still even used)… I doubt very much you can use any of that.

so, now that we are using full DotNet 4.6 in windows universal apps, why cant we build a full DotNet 4.6 WindowsForms solution so that we can build our unity3d application for Windows7?

Hey Vignesh, have you actually tried running any Unity-generated Win 10 Universal apps on the Pi 2 yet? I’m also very interested in this possibility, but don’t want to shell out for a Pi 2 if it wouldn’t work for sure.

Will this all work with the free community version of Visual Studio 2015 RTM?
And what does ‘RTM’ stand for?

RTM usual means Release to Manufacturing but as far as I know Visual Studio 2015 Community is download only.

Make sure you check all the subsystems you need to install, including Windows 10 Universal SDK, otherwise you’ll need to download separately.

Also, after downloading that you’ll want to search on Bing for Unity Tools for Visual Studio 2015 and download and install that after you install VS 2015 Community.

I’ve very glad for this Universal Windows 10 Store but I read on the MS site that Windows 10 SDK was included as part of the VS 2015 install.

I used Pro. Maybe you need to download this Windows 10 SDK separately with VS 2015 Community?

OK, I couldn’t find the web page I was referring too but after checking my list of installed programs the Windows 10 SDK is installed with Visual Studio 2015 Pro and for now, even the same version as the link in the blog article.

You can choose whether you want to install the Windows 10 SDK when you install Visual Studio 2015. I don’t know if it is selected by default.

Thanks. I remember the instruction now on the VS Studio 2015 Community download page now and the Windows 10 Universal SDK is one of the options downloaders need to check.

I got an ISO of VS2015 Pro because I participated in the BizSpark program a while back and the ISO includes all that. I lazily just check install all.

Awesome, I’m glad that you’re finally discontinuing WP8.0 and WSA8.0 that was the right call.
Does that mean that anyone can deploy to XB1 through the store when WUP is XBONE-ready?

It will be like a new XBLIG… I hope this time the Windows Store games will be shown together with games made with a devkit, instead of being isolated in a section of their own like it was XBLIG: this would increase discoverability a lot! :)

I wouldn’t pin my hopes on that happening…. XBLIG was killed, and really don’t see them letting a fiasco like that happen again. They’ve already got the store available for anyone to put a game up, but visibility to “prime partners” trumps the random indie publish.
